Who am I?
Hola! I’m Lucy, a qualified Spanish teacher from the UK and the founder of Spanish with Lucy.
I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Spanish and have over 7 years of classroom teaching experience. But my Spanish journey didn’t start in a classroom.
I moved to Galicia, Spain when I was 8 years old without speaking a word of Spanish. I remember sitting in school having absolutely no idea what anyone was saying to me. It was overwhelming, frustrating, and at times isolating. But it also shaped everything about how I teach today.
I know what it feels like to start from zero.
Why I Teach Spanish?
Learning Spanish changed my life.
Growing up in Spain gave me a deep love for the language and culture, but it also showed me how powerful language is. It gives you connection. Confidence. Independence.
After years of teaching in schools, I realised I wanted to help more people, especially adults who want to learn Spanish for real life and travel, not just textbooks. That’s why I moved online.
I created my courses to give you clarity. No overwhelm. No random resources. Just a clear, structured path that helps you build real foundations step by step.
My Teaching Style
I teach Spanish in an interactive, practical way that helps you actually remember what you learn.
My lessons use retrieval practice, a powerful learning technique that helps move vocabulary and phrases into your long-term memory by revisiting and applying them regularly. Instead of learning something once and forgetting it, we build it in properly.
You won’t just watch and listen. You’ll actively practise, recall, and use the language from the very beginning.
Everything is structured, simple, and focused on real-life situations, especially travel.
My Goal for You
My goal isn’t for you to memorise endless grammar rules.
It’s for you to build confidence from day one. To stop thinking “I wish I could speak Spanish” and start actually doing it.
Wherever you’re starting from, I want you to feel supported, capable, and excited about your progress.
